East Croydon Station - Photography forbidden

East Croydon station #2
I was on East Croydon station platform on Friday night, awaiting my connection and thought I would take a few pictures of the trains, not really been there at night with the good camera, walked right up to the end of the platform and took these from a prone position with the camera sat on the floor in front of me...
East Croydon station #1
Twice I was approached, both times by people in HVJ's, the first one, a kindly gentleman, approached from behind asking if I was "alright mate?" because he thought I had keeled over, the second, and you can see her in the photo above came and sternly scolded me because "it ain't allowed after the terror bombings"...she didn't ask me to delete the pictures though, just stop taking them. She explained that "even them train spotters 'ave to ask in writing to the station manager" (before they are allowed to huddle in their anoraks with their weak lemon squash at the end of the platforms) as if for some reason they had more right than me to behave oddly at East Croydon station...hmph... >;(

Bastards ! you should be allowed to take as many photos as you want as compensation for the stupidly high ticket prices shoddy service and general lack of anything. The station staff should concentrate on the tramps, thugs and general appearance of the station instead of pester you, if they are that short of time maybe the could give the station a lick of paint.

Oh if only we were repaid in kind as you suggest... :(

Surprised you didn't have an armed response unit on yer ass for behaving in such a terrorist like way LOL. I'd loved to have seen you in the prone position though.

Crazy stuff. I take it there are no signs on the platforms asking people to refrain from taking photographs? And I wonder how they could enforce it - you were being pretty conspicuous, how do they stop someone using their mobile phone camera?

Nope, no signs anywhere, and I could have taken a million detailed shots with my mobile...

I think we can put the "That's Life" "jobsworth award" in the post... ;)

The really ironic thing? Do you remember the police appeal shortly after 7/7 for everyone's pictures? I
submitted all
mine

I'd leave several candles wrapped in brown paper topped with a small alarm clock outside the staff canteen, that would screw their tea break. Sweet revenge

Seriously, this doesn't promote the type of public spirit they demand, if they can't tell a bomb from a box Brownie they should get a job with the donkeys on Blackpool beach.

I can do without all the hours of community service the judge would give me if I got caught... ;) Actually, more to the point, stopping everyone getting home from London would probably get me lynched!!

I had this at Finsbury Park when I tried to take a photo of a private security guard who had become agressive.

First I was told that it was against the Data Protection Act (I decided not to argue that this only applied to organisations not private citizens) and then that it infringed the Anti-terrorism Act. These people are idiots, basically, but in the end it's private property so they can pretty much do what they like.

Data protection act my arse, but the 2001 terrorism act would probably cover it, annoyingly...

my god, this is the most boring blog in existance, do you take photos while waiting for the bus or sitting on the toilet and make blog posts about those too?
