Not quite sure what to say about this product...found news of it on Boing Boing...still not entirely sure it isn't a hoax...
Anyway, from the looks of things it's not on sale yet (it is in development right now), I guess pending some sort of approval...it's priced around the same bracket as a regular condom but, like a Vietnamese pit trap, is equipped with nasty barbs (inside, angled upwards) so if anything unwelcome is introduced - it gets caught (with extreme and bloody prejudice)...
Now, if this product does come to market, it really is something *everyone* should be made very well aware of...for 3 good reasons (at the very least) -
- It could (perhaps not completely, but largely) stop rape (at least in developed countries) as (once attached to an offender) it requires careful surgical removal by a doctor and causes extreme pain - the very fact that a physical deterent exists *will* go a long, long way...
- It could help alleviate the normal default-bloke-worry about their loved ones on long journeys/during late night public travel
- According to the companies own FAQ WOMEN CAN FORGET THEY ARE WEARING IT
Great idea and terrible idea all rolled up in one! Imagine the use of this product instead of suit snipping anyone? ;0

Blimey - the mind boggles.
I quite liked this: a CCTV operated sniper rifle - http://www.spy.org.uk/trap.htm - coming to shop fronts in Baghdad any day
Scary!! Good job for UT vets when they graduate from middle school... ;)
(I *will* answer your email!!)
It seems to come in a long line of inventions that surely will never really take off...
