Nappy Vending Machines...

IMAG1617
...spotted in the wild (and in a gents loo too)!

So, two things must have happened (to add this to the usual clunky mix of boxes blocking the way to have a quick wee in the boys toilets) -

  • The rusty old condom vending machine *almost* works (nice try - as it's still in the way it's obviously making money) but didn't (in the end) - "bear fruit"
  • The breath-freshener/legal high/Horny Goat weed tablet vending machine works amazingly well (it's the same amount of pound coins as the condom one)...
However, from my point of view there is only one really important fact that is *certainly* true - and Babycare, this message is for you - £1.50 for two baby wipes doesn't really cut the mustard...are you trying to set Dads up?  The very next conversation is going to be - "Urm, well done for taking her to get changed, but you haven't done it very well have you??", "Fink - SHE SMELLS - did you clean her bottom properly?", "Oh just give her here"...

Argh! :P

Strange behaviour in the Office Toilet

Office Toilet
(Should get some exciting referrals from the search engines for that subject line)...!

Anyway - Okay, fair enough...I can (just about) understand the habit (to quote "Carry on Abroad") of "And don't forget, if you have to use any strange whatsits" (etc)...But surely, once you have "done your business", wouldn't the natural thing to do be to collect your carefully crafted little paper shield, and flush it, with whatever else you have deposited in there, around the u-bend?

One day last week, Friday I think, these little paper constructions were blocking off two of the cubicles (I was pretty far from desperate enough to think of a way to get rid of them without using my hands), and a major blockage ruled out the only other one (so apparently not even the person doing it is prepared to move their own mess, leaving it to the cleaning guys - quite what they do at home is a mystery)...it's created quite the stir on my floor, people even starting to watch who comes and goes from the smallest room, it must be someone fairly new, as it's only been happening for just a very few short weeks but the culprit, unfortunately, avoids detection... :S

Very strange, and very inconvenient, especially when you don't see any of that sort of thing taking place in the most unsanitary part of the office environment, not the (extremely) regularly disinfected toilets, but the *never* cleaned keyboard/mouse and telephone on every desk...

Box Hill Village Hall - Funny sign

Funny Sign in Box hill village hall
Spotted this notice addressed to the "Gentlemen of the Organ Club" in the "facilities" of Box Hill village hall the other day...someone obviously thought they were being rather clever...those long winter committee meetings must just fly by... ;)

Caution - Random Jack in the box cleaning system

Caution - Random jack-in-the-box cleaning system
Spotted in the toilet on the 1952hrs train out of London Bridge, looks like several vandals have made attempts to peel it off and then suddenly realised what it was and tried to stick it back on again...the sign reads "Caution. This toilet is fitted with a random jack-in-the-box cleaning system.", it's installed on an enormous steel trap door in the wall directly in front of the toilet (meaning if it were true you would have a good chance of losing your head should it decide to "go off")...

Very funny... ;)

Toilet paper habits in Corfu

Corfu 2007 - #8
Oh yes, one thing I forgot to mention about Corfu, the dreadful habit they have in that part of the world for disallowing the flushing away of toilet paper, and instead asking you to put it in a little bin next to the bowl...quite disgusting, but as our rep said - "The Greeks may have invented modern plumbing, but they got pretty far from perfecting it", he also cautioned "I suggest you don't try a sneaky flush either, as you may not like what comes back up to say hello"...*shudder*...

I was, however amused (and surprised) to read in a bar toilet (sorry, no picture) in Acharavi a sign reading "English Plumbing, Flush away!", so why, when building a new resort (Blue Bay Escape is only a few years old), didn't they fit facilities circa (say, at least) the 20th century?

Almost makes me wonder if it's a sick joke on the tourists and at home the locals all have these wonderful glistening affairs that you can confidently flush a 'phone book down... ;)
