Some of them are completely obvious (Charles Widmore=Jim Robinson from Neighbours - of course), but *seriously*, I never clocked that Miles was the baddie in Rush Hour, or Frank was the Lawnmower Man...*woah*...and check out Locke as Admiral Pressman in Star Trek TNG!

Tony Heriyanto and Gavin Brooks (of Balfe Street)

Time for another "good deed", a comment appeared on this flickr picture yesterday from a chap caled "Tony Heriyanto" who is desperate to find an old friend of his called "Gavin Brooks" who used to live at 17 Balfe Street in Kings Cross (just down the road where where I used to work) but says that everything he tries to post to that address just gets returned to him...

He provided all his contact details (a little innocently, however that gave me some satisfaction that this isn't a scam or anything illegal), so yesterday I asked Renemy (who is still in the area) to print out the details and post them directly through the door (which she did), however, it's rather likely that Mr Brooks has moved house (hence the returned mail), therefore, Gavin Brooks of Balfe Street, if you read this (through vanity searching your own details on the magic interweb), click the picture and drop Mr Heriyanto a line!

Wouldn't be the first time the internet managed to facilitate something good and nice...Although I must also remember to suggest that Tony checks facebook... ;)

Laughton update - Mr Friendly sings

Yep, the lead singer of tonight's tribute band looks rather spookily like the Hillbilly-Horror from LOST...They didn't dare come on until we were at least a little drunk though...so not too sure of their skills... ;) Oh, and we saw the 'Wall of Death' - Best three quid I ever spent...pics later! Sorry I can't reply to ANY comments in the field, it just mucks up on my phone, will post intelligently when i'm home...perhaps... ;)

ABC's LOST - The Lost Experience (game)

...if you are playing along with "The Lost Experience" then may I recommend this website, it's been rather helpful for me a couple of times already...(and will help you catch up if you have no idea what I am on about)...it's certified safe to people who aren't up to date with Season 2 btw... ;)

Careful what you are doing while you are playing though, at one point I nearly dropped my glass of water in suprised shock (bloody monkey)!!

On another note, we are off to watch some dog racing in a little while, pictures later if I take any good ones (but it is raining pretty hard unfortunately)...

ABC's LOST - "Two for the road"

OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEST EPISODE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

I watched it on my PSP on the train, and when...*that*...happened I GASPED, LOUD (perhaps that's the wrong word)...everyone in the carriage looked round at me in *PANIC*...so it was the kind of noise that would provoke that reaction from 50-odd bored commuters...I had to mouth "s o r r y" to the crowd afterwards...but what on EARTH is going on????

I suspect M is framing HG...got to watch it again though before I make up my mind...I *heart* LOST 4 eva...

ABC's Lost - Lockdown

I would be guilty of serious dereliction of duty if I didn't at least post this...(interactive hatch map)...!

What a great episode though...looks like our little friend isn't who he says he is, although whether he is an "Other", the jury is still out, pretty rubbish cover story if you leave the real guy's body (still with ID) in the grave though...so there is a possible twist...and Locke has made his vow - "No matter what"...and I kind of think he is the sort of fellow who keeps his vows...

Did you spot the cross? That's Nadia's house Locke was attending...not quite sure where in the timeline that flashback was from though...

ABC's Lost "Maternity Leave"...

Been meaning to publish this for a while now, lots of good questions raised both on "Generally Speaking" and at "The Fuselage" after the last episode (lots of information to process!)...so here I summarise the new issues and my thoughts...(it's going to be funny to come back and see how wrong/right these are later in the shows lifespan ;)

So, to business -

Q.What is Mr Eko doing with all that "good" wood he is chopping down, and why/how is he catagorising it?

A.Well, the jury is still out on this one, there are two prominent camps dominating the discussion that are arguing voiciferously either a) He is building a church or b) He definitely isn't building a church (but not offering an alternative), apart from that a quiet contingent offers two other attractive options c) he is building a dwelling for himself (no place to rest his head has been shown so far on screen) and d) he is building fortifications or a fort...it's d) that is my favorite option, and as for the "good" and "bad" trees, he is simply marking the ones out that are suitable for the task at hand, nothing more mysterious than that...there are two other possibilities that have occured to me though, e) another raft (but we've done that already so probably not) or f) a bridge (but I have no idea to where or why, can't help the way my brain works ;)

Q.Why on earth have the "others" in the medical hatch got "hillbilly" costumes, fake beards and theatrical glue?

A.There's one of the "grand theories" that fits here, and that is that the whole thing is a psychological experiement being run by DHARMA (yes, it's an acronym - official), this is supported by two specific bits of evidence - Deep and rapid insight and clever use of conversation to drive a large wedge between Lock and Jack by "Henry Gale" (just as a good clinical psychologist would), and the last official podcast clearly stating that "everyone is on the island for a reason, because of something they have done"...smacks of intellegent selection to me...

Q.What was Desmond injecting/was injected into Claire/the baby?

A.Everyone is referring to it as "vaccine", was it the same stuff? It looks a slightly different colour to me..More green...but was it vaccine? I believe that Danielle's lot were deliberately infected in an experiment and there isn't just "a disease" (Danielle is the entire source of this suspicion, and she ain't an MD imho), this is bourne out by Aaron's rapid recovery, and Jack's outburst on the subject...

Q.Is Sun pregnant (after the "A mother shouldn't leave her baby!" outburst)

A.Yes, well, at the very least she thinks she is, as it's in the synopsis for the next episode... ;)

Q.Why aren't Lock and Jack trying to get the guns back?

A.I would love them to at least discuss it (on air), this bit of the show really doesn't work for me...I think there would have been uproar...

Q.Is "Henry Gale" an "Other"/Is his name/story anything to do with "The Wizard of Oz"

A.Yes, it is definitely a nod to "The Wizard of Oz", this was confirmed in the official podcast...is he an "Other"? HELL YES (as discussed above) and *also* I remind you of the look he gave to Sayed after their little jolly in the gun cabinet...ouch!

Best episode of season 2 so far... ;)

Oh, one last thing to consider, and this is as to the validity of the Claire medical hatch flashback, Libby is saying to her (when she is coming out of her trance) to take the images with a pinch of salt, they may be "transferrence" from previous experiences...now, check out this shot from season 1 (Claire's dream *before* she was kidnapped) and this shot of the nursery in the medical facility...a tingle of doubt? Might be that she was mixing up details, or it might be back to the experiment idea, the "Others" put the crib out there in the jungle assuming she would think it an hallucination...? ;)

I love Lost... :)

Weekend update...

...okay, so the doctor (oh btw - 3 visits to this surgery so far and I've got a different doctor each time! This one was an American lady...previous ones have been an Indian lady and and Indian gentleman) said the wrist problem is confirmed as a "Ganglion" (sounds nice, doesn't it?), it's operable with a minor surgical procedure, but I didn't want to do anything until I'd looked it up myself (starting to worry about the lot up at Earlswood surgery, seems they are a bit knife-happy ;)...Anyway, it seems the procedure that she suggested (aspiration) results in a high chance of recurrence of the fault, so I think I'm going to take the "wait and see" option for the time being, it's uncomfortable but I can put up with it...

Friday PM I headed out to meet up with Tommo (armed with Mavica) acting on a tip off that more filming was happening in the area (playing amateur paparatzi ;) but as it turned out the crew had arrived early in the day, set up all the lights, started to unload all the other gear and then just packed up again and vanished (looks like they might have got behind with the filming)...so instead we drank beer/ate Chinese food/played Xbox/etc which was cool fun regardless... ;)

The rest of the weekend was spent messing/lounging around with Flyingpops - watched "The New World" which was excellent (but about half an hour too long imho)...watched the latest episode of "Lost" which was superb (still think the producers are spending too long reading the forums though, it's like the fans are saying "Have you forgotten?" to the writers and they are rushing to keep up)! Oh, the hieroglyphics apparently roughly translate (in ancient Egyptian) to a word that means both "arrival" and "impending death"...interesting stuff, expected a little more drama though when Locke mucked up!

Oh, and I've settled on "Generally Speaking" as my new Lost podcast of choice btw...very good stuff... ;)

Puccinos coffee carriage...

Was unlucky enough to get the Puccino's coffee bar carriage yesterday morning (sorry about the dodgy shot, took it using the phone) on the Thameslink train into work...I suppose it probably did operate once (someone's expensive dream franchise), but never in my experience, now it's just a collosal waste of space...the heart shaped twin seats are just awful, they practically force you to touch knees with the person next to you, fine if you *know* them, but during the commute? Bah...fingers crossed for today!

Oh, and the official Lost podcast is awesome! Keep an eye out for "a cross" (a significant one apparently) during the Sawyer flashback in the next episode "The Long Con"...they also confessed that they intended the sign on the Battersea Power station to be just a little larger than it turned out to be in the final cut...it should have read "Widmore construction"...but why is that significant? We'll have to wait and see... ;)

Lost Podcasts...

...well, looks like Ryan and Jen have given up doing "The Transmission", which I am gutted about...so I'm on the hunt for a replacement, I've listened to a few episodes of Jay and Jack, they are a funny pair and definitely worth a listen, but they do go off topic a lot, and frankly seem to love everyone's theory (no matter how stupid they sound) Ryan and Jen really picked apart the duffers with their encyclopaedic knowledge of the show, these two just seem to "agree 100%" with everything...*frown*

Still, my search is far from over and there are lots of others on offer, if I find a goodie I'll let you know...John and Brian at lunchtime I think...

I'm also going to dip into the official podcast for the first time later on today...although it really looks like they were winding everyone up about the sign on the Battersea power station...there is definitely *something* out of the ordinary on there, but the details are invisible to the naked eye if you ask me! Still, that's the second episode in a row I've gone back to re-watch a few times to pick up the details, the producers are doing something really right... ;)

Absolutely freezing...

...today...no clouds and thus predicted high in the middle of London is 3 degrees centigrade...everything is covered in a thick layer of ice, had the car running for ten minutes this morning with the blowers on full and *still* had to use the ice scraper to clear the *inside* of the windscreen! Halfords lock de-icer was wonderful though, distant memories of holding matches to keys in vain are further banished...

Snapped this one at Redhill station while freezing my ass off waiting for my connection, you'd never guess that Redhill is near Gatwick Airport, would you...? ;)

Anyway, speaking of the cold, as I mentioned, yesterday I spent about 4 hours confined in a car with Whittleman, who was very ill with Flu-like symptoms and glugging cough medicine direct from the bottle, being a brave soldier, just hope I don't get it...it was a good day though and I learned something as a result of the journey - as we were driving along, so the on board computer kept on beeping to alert us that the exterior temperature was approaching that where ice may form on the road. This took our conversation away from LOST and on to whether the speed of the vehicle affected the sensor in any way...we got as far as working out that wind chill was probably something to do with convection and evaporation and therefore most likely *not* but neither of us was really sure...Wikipaedia came to the rescue when I got home last night, and just to clear this up - it's only bags of water like human beings that experience "Wind Chill", VW Golf thermometers are immune...(and it's not called "Wind Chill Factor" either, just "Wind Chill", so feel free to correct your TV weatherman next time they say it)... ;)

Lost - Unifying Theory...

DON'T READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU ARE NOT UP TO DATE WITH "LOST"...

Here is a go at a first draft at a list of points to be covered/explained that would be required of any unifying theory of ABC's "Lost" -

• Electromagnetism (North "moving", comments in the orientation movie)
• Black Rock
• The small plane (how did it end up there, if the island is in the Pacific)
• The numbers - 4 8 15 16 23 42 (lottery/hatch/computer/other occurences)
• The visions (wet/backwards Walt, Jack's dad, the horse?)
• The "monster"/s (Smokie, grabbie, Polar bear, clunky walking machine)
• The "others" (why they infiltrated the groups, how they were immediately ready to do so (even equipped with a list of names) and why they abduct...)
• Make sure it does not contradict official producer/writer statements that the setting is (a) DEFINITELY NOT "Purgatory" and the characters are 100% alive, and (b) they have been strongly influenced by Stephen King ("The Stand" and "The Langoliers" particularly spring to mind)

Did I forget/miss anything?

My initial thoughts on the island was that it was a dumping ground for failed genetic experiments, but we haven't had anything odd like the Polar Bear really since then...although the "others" could be modified humans (life extension/psychic ability extension experiments?)...

My 2nd theory (I've not heard anyone else mention this) is that the Dharma initiative/Hanzo were building machines (maybe with another goal in mind) that ended up interfering with probability, resulting in a minor, island-based version of the "Heart of Gold" where the extremely improbable has a habit of happening...doesn't explain everything, but it sits comfortably ontop of most of the above...

Another theory I like (although not one of my own making) is that the island is a man-made construct that can move, the numbers that are being typed in are to maintain the longitude and latitude, the current arrangement is an empty area in the Pacific ocean (but another arrangement, interestingly, is a spot of ocean off the coast of Nigeria which would help explain how the little plane made it onto the island (and odd things like the Polar Bear)…the EM field generators that were mentioned in the induction video support, and also explain the compass issues that were mentioned early on (Sayeed saying "North just moved"), it would also explain the French woman’s statement "This Island has a security system" (holograms and/or nanoparticles for the visions and monster/s)…however, it doesn't explain "Black Rock" nor the spooky stuff regarding the numbers…so not perfect...and no-one was talking about Nanoparticle swarms twenty years ago to my knowledge...

Perhaps a combination of the three?

Yep, great advertising...snapped in rush hour at Kings Cross...shades of "The Fast Show"...(nice)... ;)

There were problems on the Thameslink today (30 minute delays!), so I came into London Bridge with Flyingpops (listened to the latest LOST podcast on my PSP - "Psalm 23" was an AMAZING episode! Nanobots? Maybe...! ;) and caught the number 17 bus to Kings Cross, but being cold and rainy (as it is today) all the windows were fogged up, so I couldn't see properly where to get off (I don't like wiping all those germs with anything I own and no newspaper was to hand)...so I just walked downstairs when the shadows of the buildings looked about right and fluked the right stop...

Anyway, at just about that moment, the guys on the podcast (Ryan and Jen) were talking about dreams in the show, and commenting specifially on the fact that frequently things that people dream seem to have a nasty habit of actually coming to pass...for some strange reason when they said that, the lyrics to "When you wish upon a star" from Disney's "Pinocchio" sprang into my mind...you might not know this, but some thorists are drawing strong parallels between certain parts of "Lost" and "Peter Pan", so I wondered if this perhaps was another cheeky nod to Disney...(incidentally the parent company of the production firm ;)

Hehe, I love this show...not many television programmes do that kind of thing to my brain! :)
