Save our Forests!

Okay, time to do some do-gooding again, this time, please sign this petition to ask the Con-Dem government to NOT sell off all our forests to the highest bidder...short sighted idiots... >:(

Who should you vote for?

I know a lot of people have already cast their vote (it's all over Facebook), but it's well worth checking out this site to see who you *should* vote for based on what your feelings are on the various party policies (rather than the party leader's TV performances or what the papers are ordering you to do)...check it out here (only takes 2 minutes to fill out the fields)...luckily I'm what I thought I was...not so for some people in the office though! ;)

Cllr. Alison Berridge - Whitebushes

How caring? Just look at her home page, there's nothing there...! If you Google "Whitebushes" you see rather a lot more of me than things our local conservative representative have done around here...surely that is just a little wrong...(not that the other parties are terribly prominent either though, admittedly)...Hrm...

Thus, I suggest all politicians start a public blog, just one post per week, any tiny thing they have achieved for the local community...that would be nice...eh? (and Blogger is free)... ;)

UK Local Elections 2006

Well, today is polling day for the local elections (I spotted this car stuck in the traffic jam around Kings Cross obviously trying to do a bit of last minute canavassing for "Nuruxxaman 'Mukul' Hira" of the "Respect party")...our area, oddly enough lacking a "Respect" party candidate, is (as I mentioned once before) a Tory safe seat, with a smattering of other parties holding sway regionally...Flyingpops was approached by a Tory canvasser the other day and innocently asked who was likely to win our seat (Earlswood and Whitebushes) and was told that it was a close run thing between the Tories and Labour...but was this reverse psychology to stop us tactically voting Lib Dem? It's been bothering me! Being politicians though the answer is probably no...they just aren't that clever... ;)

update - Whittleman just told me that the "Respect" party are (and I quote) "Galloway's bunch of monkeys"...and he's right too...can you imagine Galloway as PM? Hahaha... ;)

Anyway, in other news it's forecast that the temperature today is going to reach 25 degrees (hotest day of the year so far), in direct response the car park at the station had loads of spaces, the trains were *empty* and I have left my coat at home... :)

Labour are back in (for a record third term), but by the smallest majority in election history, quite honestly, when you look at the new map of the UK by seat, it's hard to understand why...it's pretty much blue...(and we stayed Tory locally by the way) :(

Today is Polling day...

...in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for our General Election (I wonder if the Americans are as interested in our election as we were in theirs? Probably not!). I live in a Conservative safe seat, so not sure if it was really worth casting my vote, but I did so anyway (not least because the polling station was under 100 yards from my front door)... ;)

This year I really feel like the only people who actually put any effort in to win my vote were the Labour party, they were in the estate so often I was almost getting into "nodding aquaintance" terms with some of the campaigners... ;) Not to mention the leafleters at the station! I simply didn't see hide nor hair of "the other lot" though, I guess because it is traditionally a safe seat they felt like they didn't need to bother, so it would be funny if we have a little suprise when the results come in (yeah, right, I can stop day-dreaming now!)... ;)
